I became interested in photography in the 8th grade. Over the Christmas break I was allowed to take the school camera home with me to capture pictures of my family, friends, and other holiday events. I was hooked from that moment on.
After high school I was able to afford my first real camera. I purchased a used Canon FT QL SLR Camera with a couple of lenses and filters and shot cityscapes, sunsets, nature, family pictures and more. It was a great camera for what I used it for. I was never really all that good at it, but I certainly enjoyed the process.
Then came the world of digital photography. Unfortunately, I was not able to afford the latest and greatest gear so I sort of phased out of photography for many years. Then came the cell phone camera. I was hooked. I was able to take a picture on my phone!!! What a concept. I remember early on thinking to myself, “Why would anyone want to have a camera on their phone?” This technology led to me being able to take a daily picture and share my images with the world on my photo blog. It still sits in the archives of the worldwide web if you want to see it 🙂 http://weaphermobile.blogspot.com/
Here is the very first mobile blog post: http://weaphermobile.blogspot.com/2008/01/blog-post.html
The days of photo blogs turned into Facebook news feeds, Instagram posts, and other creative ways to share images. During it all I have not only changed from simply shooting on my cell phone, but I have developed a bit of my skills and equipment to help me to improve my hobby.
I don’t consider myself a photographer by any stretch of the imagination. There are thousands of them out there and they are amazing. I am simply a guy that takes pictures. As I stated over 12 years ago on my first photo blog, “Shots And Thoughts From An Ordinary Guy!”
I am a follower of Christ. I have been to a couple of different places over the years on short term mission trips and spent 6 months with my wife serving in Montana in 2016. We are always asking the Lord to open up opportunities for us to serve him here or abroad. I have a website that has devotionals, resources, and more to help share the love of Christ. You can find it here: Daily In Christ
I am a husband, father, and grandfather. I am a blessed man for sure. I love the way my dad states it, “I have the kind of life money can’t buy.”
On this site you will find images and posts that hopefully tell a story. I hope you enjoy it.
